michael helmuth hansen - DIRECTOR

After starting as a 2D-animator in 1983 at Bent Barfod film, Michael Helmuth Hansen was fortuned to be picked to be a part of the team that created Valhalla the movie. A production inspired by the Disney style, and a movie that started a new era for Danish Animation. From there he moved on to work on a wide range of movies and commercials. Amongst those are titles as ‘Jungledyret Hugo’, ‘Fuglekrigen’, ‘All dogs go to Heaven’, ‘Ferngully’ and ‘Help I’m a fish’.

In the early nineties, he went to LA to direct a Carlsberg commercial, and got his first introduction to 3D. But it wouldn’t be before 2003 that he had to make the transition himself. Starting making CG-animation on the Norwegian film ‘Free Jimmy’, he then moved on to the Danish blockbuster ‘Terkel in Trouble’. In 2006, his career with movies ended, and he instead started work for the Copenhagen-based, video game company IO-Interactive, makers of the popular Hitman series. He was assigned as a lead animator on the famously Mini Ninjas, for the next three years.

In 2010 he left the game-industry, in favor of storytelling and moviemaking.
